Advisor Social Welfare, Home Guards & Civil Defence, M. Noke Wangnao inaugurated Tammong Village under Mon district on April 12.
Speaking on the inaugural function as chief guest, he said, “Tammong should be a model village for all neighbouring villages” and urged the villagers to maintain a neat and clean environment.
Urging the villagers to be vigilant and implement developmental schemes, Noke said that even if the schemes and development activities come from the government, development of the village solely depend upon the citizen of the village. “The villagers are responsible for proper implementations and to carry out all the activities,” he said.
He added that “The unity of the villagers is very important for all round development of the village and without unity village cannot go forward.”
Stating that “the government servant is a public servant” he asked the officers to be sincere and work hard for the upliftment of the people.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon K. Thavaseelan (IAS) in his short speech said that April 12 will be a “red letter day” for Tammong village. The recognition of the village is necessary for the proper development of the village. He assured that the district administration will be in full support for proper implementation of all the schemes for the development of the village.
Chief Ahng of Mon village and Y. Tingyeih BDO also spoke during the occasion. The programme was chaired by T.Nokyam and well address was delivered by N.Monao, Chairman, Tammong Village Council. The cultural troupe of Mon village performed cultural display.
The chief guest was accompanied by P. Pohwang, Advisor, Fire & Emergency Services, SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation, DC Mon K.Thavaseelan (IAS), Khoiwang Wangsha, President ENPO, Dignitaries, Invitees and host of government officials.
Earlier, the chief guest also unveiled the monolith and dedicatory prayer was done by Rev. Chemyuh Konyak, Executive Secretary KBBB, Mon.
