Dimapur, April 8 (MExN): A village Morung (Yalam Wangheang) of Tanhai Village under Mon District was formally inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary CAWD, Y.M. Yollow Konyak on April 6.
Speaking on the occasion, the Parliamentary Secretary encouraged the people of Tanhai Village to take advantage of the good geographical location which includes good road connectivity, availability of water supply and good electricity. He further urged the people to make good use of developmental activities of the government.
Strongly discouraging social vices such as alcoholism and drug abuse especially among the youths, he advocated towards transforming oneself since no other external factors can change “one’s evil practice.”
The programme was chaired by H. Leiwang, a teacher in GMS Tanhai and concluded with a closing prayer by P. Wangpong, Pastor Tanhai Baptist while entire program was recorded by Er. K. Tingten Konyak.
The highlight of the event included cultural songs by various groups; short speeches by Y. Nyangpong Jt. Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control, Government of Nagaland and invitees from other Morungs followed by a Morung feast, informed a press note received here.
