TCG trains women & youth to make paper, cloth bags

Kohima, July 30 (MExN): The Kohima based The Coming Generation (TCG) under its campaign ‘Nagaland Says No To Plastic’ organized two-day workshop cum awareness programme in two different venues on July 27 and 28.

Women and youth from Lower Jail and Merhülietsa colony were given training on how to make paper and cloth bags from materials which are easily available at homes or are low cost during the two days, informed a press release from TCG.

The same training was given at Kripa Foundation Rehab Centre at High School Colony on the following day.

“This plastic pollution is causing a threat to our environment and it is time that every individual living and breathing on this earth should take the responsibility of protecting it,” the release asserted.

The campaign’s objective, it said, is to spread awareness to individuals of all aspects so that change will start from young, old, men, and women.

The participants in the training were encouraged to refuse plastic bags as much as possible and to promote use of biodegradable bags.

The workshop’s intent was to impart to the participants the skill of making paper and cloth bags so that they can contribute in making Nagaland a plastic free zone State, it added.
