Tekne Fest 2024 celebrates innovation and technology at St. Joseph University

Dimapur, September 22 (MExN): The Department of Computer Science at St. Joseph University hosted the eagerly awaited Tekne Fest 2024, a two-day celebration of technology and innovation that brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests for a series of dynamic activities and competitions.

The festival began with an inaugural ceremony graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. D. Gnanadurai, Registrar Dr. A. Robert Xavier, Deputy Registrar Sr. Thianes, Controller of Examinations Dr. S. Thiyagarajan, and Dean of Science Dr. K. Rajaganesh. The event, hosted by B.Tech II students Neha and Kajol, opened with an invocation by Sr. Princy, followed by a welcome address from Dr. T. Ebanaser, Head of the Computer Science Department.

BCA students Ruusienuo Dzeyie and Takar Nasi enlivened the atmosphere with a musical performance, setting a vibrant tone for the proceedings. Dr. S. Thiyagarajan delivered an insightful talk on the relationship between debugging in computer programming and online gaming, highlighting the critical thinking and logic required in both fields. He emphasized the importance of these skills for students’ future success.

Dr. Robert Xavier highlighted the role of such events in fostering creativity and collaboration, while Vice Chancellor Dr. Gnanadurai encouraged students to devote three to four hours daily to programming practice, stressing the value of hands-on learning over theoretical study. He also urged students to enhance their logical thinking skills, especially as artificial intelligence continues to advance.
The morning session concluded with a group photo featuring the dignitaries, faculty members, and selected students. A series of activities followed, including a hackathon, machine learning workshops, meme-making, videography, and various indoor games, engaging participants in a range of tech-related challenges.

Day two of the festival continued the momentum with a painting competition themed “Art Meets Technology,” blending creativity with innovation. Other events included meme-making, video production, typing tests, arm wrestling, and an exhibition of static models, which saw enthusiastic participation from students eager to showcase their talents.

The Valedictory Programme, held in the Seminar Hall, featured an invocation by Sr. Elite from II BCA and a welcome address by Assistant Professor Ms. Nempivah Lienthang. Dean Dr. Rajaganesh delivered the valedictory address, reflecting on the festival’s success and the spirit of innovation it fostered. Prizes were distributed to participants, recognizing their achievements and contributions to the event.

Linthoi Karam from II B.Tech delivered the vote of thanks, followed by a final benediction from Sr. Jothy of II BCA, bringing Tekne Fest 2024 to a close. The event was hailed as a remarkable success, inspiring a spirit of collaboration and innovation among the university community and setting a high standard for future celebrations.
