Tension in Meghalaya

Shillong, January 6 (NNN): A day after the Khasi Students Union (KSU) has asked the nascent armed outfit of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) to release the abducted Khasi youth safe, the proscribed outfit, the Khasi militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) questioned the Garo outfit on the abduction.
While expressing concern over the abduction of the young Khasi businessman and coal dealer, Rimidu Sutnga, the HNLC wants to know the grounds for his abduction. HNLC publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw in an email to the media houses on Wednesday last said, “If the abduction of District Transport Officer R Syngkon was for his corrupt practices, then what are the grounds for Sutnga’s abduction”. Sending a warning to the Garo outfit, the HNLC spokesperson warned the GNLA of a possible revenge in the wake of the GNLA’s frequent attacks on fellow indigenous beings.
“Do not push us to follow suit”, the Khasi outfit warned.
