Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): In the backdrop of the historic ceasefire pact between the Naga underground factions, initiated by the Nagaland GBs and DBs, question have been posed behind the motive of the western Sumi Hoho-initiated “unification move.”
According to “Tenyimi Brothers’ National workers” the WSH’s “unification” move is clearly an expansionist and neo-colonial move to benefit a particular Naga tribe. The Tenyimi underground cadres informed to have met on December 8 to exchange views over the situation arising out of the WSH move. The discussions measured the pros and cons of the nature of circumstances and on these, certain decisions were arrived at.
“It is regrettable to note that the present so called unification move has been initiated without prior and full disclosure of the intent and content of the move; the move is clearly camouflaged” a note from tatar Kevi Paulous, “convenor, TBNW” of the NSCN(IM) stated. The Tenyimi NSCN-IM cadres maintained that the move is designed with expansionist and neo-colonial agenda to establish a new colony to benefit a particular tribe at the expense of other Naga tribes and customary values of land ownership.
“The mover ‘unity and reconciliation’ under the aegis of Western Sumi Hoho sounds beautiful ad appears to be holistic but with a clear divisive design to cause irreparable division and losses to other tribes to allow the particular tribes (sic) or brothers belonging to the said Hoho to enjoy the benefit in absolute and uncontrolled manner” the note stated. However, the note assured that the Tenyimi underground cadres of the NSCN-IM are firmly committed to the “principle of forgive and forget” and to stop fratricidal killings. It is for unification and welfare of the Naga nation only, it stated.
The note also reaffirmed commitment to the declaration of NSCN-IM chairman Isak Chishi Swu concerning unity and unification. “The assembly of the Tenyimi Brothers National Workers rededicate themselves with unflinching support to the collective leadership in the interest of Naga national cause and the resolution of the Naga political problem” it added.
