Phuvkiu, September 22 (MExN): Rev. Sr. Carolen Yimkhiunger of the Sisters of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS) celebrated a heartfelt thanksgiving Mass at Christ King Church on Sunday. The ceremony, attended by a diverse gathering of community members, was warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Shyjesh, the center in-charge.
The Eucharist, officiated by Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, served as an occasion to express gratitude for the many blessings received. The celebration began with a vibrant procession led by men in traditional attire, accompanied by singing and dancing as they made their way to the church.
Fr. Toretkiu was joined by several concelebrants, including Rev. Fr. Siju, a provincial consulter, and fellow priests from the region: Jacob from Manipur, Satheesh from Sitimi, Akhil, and Leo Chase from St. Paul Parish, Pungro. The event saw participation from nuns, public leaders, village council members, catechists, and invited guests from neighboring villages.
In his homily, Fr. Toretkiu reflected on the words of Jesus, stating, “If anyone wants to be first, they must make themselves last of all and servant of all” (Mk 9:35). He emphasized that true greatness lies in humility and committed service to God’s people, urging the congregation to recognize God’s presence in one another. He encouraged Rev. Sr. Carolen, the newly professed, to embrace life's hardships with gratitude, drawing inspiration from St. Teresa of Kolkata. He also encouraged living in the present with enthusiasm and looking to the future with confidence, as exemplified by Pope John Paul II.
Following the Mass, a short felicitation program was held, with Andrew Shulikiu serving as the master of ceremonies. Public leaders and church officials shared their thoughts, and children and youth presented special dances and choreographed performances. Rev. Sr. Carolen expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the gathering, and the event concluded with a traditional dance performed by the men of the community, followed by a communal lunch for all attendees.
This celebration not only marked a personal milestone for Rev. Sr. Carolen but also fostered a sense of unity and gratitude within the community.
