CHUMOUKEDIMA, APRIL 28 (MExN): Theja Meru, Chairman of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), urged young people to "dream big and lead boldly" during a Cultural-cum-Literary Day celebration hosted by the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) in collaboration with Clefnote Music Academy.
The event, held at BAM Hall in NEISSR’s Peace Centre campus at 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, carried the theme “Waving Words, Wearing Heritage.”
Meru, speaking as the special guest, called on students to embrace big dreams as a patriotic duty, invoking the spirit of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. "To dream small is a crime," he said. “Dream big and do big, not only for Nagaland and the Northeast but for the glory of India.”
Drawing on examples from Japanese work culture, Meru emphasized dedication, teamwork, harmony, continuous improvement, and long-term vision. He challenged the youth to move beyond a "culture of blame" and instead lead with action, resilience, and innovation.
Rev Dr CP Anto, Principal of NEISSR, also addressed the gathering, calling for a collective commitment to preserve and promote cultural heritage. He praised Meru for championing the arts and cultural identity in the region and highlighted the Church's role in education and community building.
The event featured a showcase of folk performances from various Naga and northeastern tribes, along with literary and cultural competitions aimed at fostering creativity and cultural pride.
Anchored by social work trainees Liki K. Zhimo and Thangeingam Rainam, the program included a welcome address by Student Council Cultural Secretary Yantsumong J. Yimchunger and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by NEISSR assistant professor Barnic R Gangmei.
