Kohima, August 26 (MExN): The Thenyizumi Students' Union Kohima (TSUK) observed its 24th fresher social 2019 at LCS building under the theme ‘Living in a smart world’ on August 24. 


Dr Rokolhuü K Nakro, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture, SASRD: Nagaland University, Medziphema graced the occasion as the guest speaker.


In her speech, she stated that the modern world is so competitive and “we cannot stop globalization but need to become smarter to adjust with the modern world.” She reminded that we live in the era that the world is in a big transformation because of smart technology, to which she pondered upon the responsibilities of the 21st generation to improvise the usage of smart technology and get adapted as no one can stop globalization. 


Reflecting on the theme, she said that our life is being influenced by modern technology and that smart technology has immeasurable impact in our daily life. While admitting that with the smart technology, she said it was now easy to access information.  She admitted that students are smarter than teacher today because of smart technology and also suggested the teachers to upgrade themselves to cope up with the demands of the new generation. 


She also spoke on the importance utilization of time for using the technology which can be boon and bane. “We need to manage technology, and not let technology manage you. Let us be smart in using technology,” she reminded. 


Vepozoyi Theyo, head GB Thenyizu village called upon the  students to give their best in their academic career reminding them that the village has high hopes on them. Earlier, Beduzo Swuro, subject topper HSLC (Foundation of Information Technology) spoke on behalf of the fresher. Vethizo Vero gave education and statistical report while by Khrünuto Kezo, president TSUK delivered presidential address.
