Through initiative of women SHGs, marketing shed opens in Pfutseromi

Pfutsero, September 10 (MExN): Pfutseromi SHGs Marketing Shed along Pfutsero-Kohima State Highway in Pfutseromi village of Phek district was inaugurated by Zhalie Puro, Assistant District Programme Manager, Phek NSRLM on September 7. An initiative of women SHGs under Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), the marketing shed was made possible with the collective support of the Block Development Officer Pfutsero, 9th Assam Rifles, village council, VDB, women society, youth society, Baptist Church Pfutseromi Village and the community, stated a press release.   In view of the vegetable growing suitability in the area and the need for marketing facility, the 37 SHGs under Pfutseromi village had decided to construct a marketing shed along the Pfutsero-Kohima road. A five-member construction committee led the initiative supported by the village authorities, its CBOs and others. Zhalie Puro lauded the efforts of the SHGs and appreciated the Block Development Officer Pfutsero, 9th Assam Rifles Pfutsero for their support. He further requested the leaders for their continuous support and looked forward to be with the community in more livelihoods interventions in the near future as the Mission progresses. Meanwhile, Puro encouraged the community to keep working hard for better future.   Neikhwetso Mero, Chairman, Village Council Pfutseromi thanked the NSRLM and its staffs for their efforts towards institutional building like SHGs, which in turn is bringing development for the community. He stressed on the best use of the marketing shed saying it will also become a check point like for controlling "illegal and anti-social activities" within the jurisdiction of the village. He further thanked the land owners for willingly allowing the construction of the marketing shed and requested the other land owners nearby to let the villagers make use of the land for cultivation purposes.
