The fourth edition of the ‘Thuwu-Ni’, an outdoor festival is all set to take place from November 15-18 at Pughoboto, Zunheboto district.
The four day festival, managed by Musik-A is an amalgamation of music, adventure, indigenous sports and food festival and brings together local and internationally acclaimed artists under one roof.
In twine with this year’s theme, “Back to the woods,” the festival will see events like Thuwu-ni Indigenous Games and Sports Olympic (TIGSO), Thuwuni Music Festival (TMF), Thuwuni Rural Adventure (Celebrating Indigenous Lifestyle), Taste of Aphuyemi (Local cuisines & organic local brews), and Last man standing (akikiti championship).
Organizers from Musik-A, during a press conference at Hope Café and Bakery, Dimapur today informed that the event will take place simultaneously at two venues- Pughoboto Ground and Natsumi Outdoor Stadium.
Some artists line-up for this year’s festival are the Lords of Rock (LOR), Julia Bliss (Russia), Sourabee Debbarma (Former Indian Idol), Unplugged 3, Avora Records, Polar Lights, Fine Mess (Manipur), Technicolors, Zuchobeni Tungoe, Jonathan Yhome, Mozzey, Roy (Mumbai), Dj Sumika.
TMF will feature a mix music genres-rock and roll, new age and electronic dance music. Adventure enthusiasts can also partake in the Jhum Cultivation Trek, village walk or recycling trek competition, Swachh Bharat Marathon, the organizers stated. These events aim to promote a plastic free festival.
With the view to promote rural tourism, 24 stalls, one each for the 24 villages participating in the events will cater to sale of rural agro produce, handloom & handicrafts.
Tickets to the festival will be normal entry tickets, VIP and VVIP tickets ranging from Rs 250- 10000 depending on accommodation and other inclusions. Tickets will be available online and in the venue from October 25 onwards.
People can book their stays at tents near the festival ground or opt for Bring your own tent (BYOT) and homestays near the festival venue.
Nat Geo, FM Tragopan, Red Bull, India Trail are some of the event partners.
ughoboto is located 29 km towards west of Zunheboto and 54 km away from Kohima. Daily Taxi and NST bus services from Kohima, Dimapur, Zunheboto will be made available on all the festival days, the organizers also informed. More information is available at www.thuwunifestival.com.
Thuwu-Ni festival, with the theme “celebrating indigenous lifestyle” was started in 2014 at Pughoboto, the place inhabited by the pioneers of the Sumi tribe of Nagaland.
