Tohanba seeks support for speedy development

Parliamentary secretary for CAWD, R Tohanba, has called for joint effort and coordination of NGOs, churches and village councils with district administration and elected representatives for speedy development of respective constituencies.

Addressing the first coordination meeting with administration and department officers of Chessore sub-division Wednesday evening (April 3), the parliamentary secretary said that though Chessore is one of the oldest administrative centres in Tuensang district, it has been neglected over the years in terms of infrastructure and other developments.

Stressing on the urgency to develop the sub-division, Tohanba urged upon the officers of various departments posted at Chessore to be sincere and dedicated and to perform their duties so that the people of the area are benefitted. 

He also said that NGOs or public should give constructive suggestions to their elected representative so that the latter can take approach the department concerned or government for speedier implementation of projects or other welfare measures. Tohanba said that in many instances, NGOs or public give ultimatum or complain directly to government or departments without first consulting with their elected legislators. Such practices results in suspicion and mistrust and hampers development in the long run, he said. He further said that since election is over, the public should also shed partisan attitudes and join hands for speedy development of the area.

Earlier, SDO (C) Chessore, Bendanglila read out and submitted to the parliamentary secretary a copy containing list of immediate requirements of the sub-division for immediate redressal. The list includes posting of a medical officer, posting of head master at GHS Chessore, construction of multi-purpose hall and posting of information assistant at Chessore. The parliamentary secretary assured to do his best.

Executive engineer, (CAWD), Er Sungti Amer, who accompanied the CAWD parliamentary secretary, in his speech said that Tuensang district is privilege to have Tohanba as CAWD in-charge and expressed confidence that under Tohanba, the district and Chessore would witness speedy development.

The parliamentary secretary who is on a week-long tour of his 58 Shamator-Chessore A/C as well as to attend thanksgiving and felicitation programmes of his victory in the recently concluded assembly election also inspected ongoing development works including the model higher secondary school at Chessore.
