Torechu inaugurates Village Guard House

Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): Chairman, Development Authority of Nagaland, T Torechu inaugurated Village Guard (VG) Rest House at Penkim village under Khong Range of Pungro Sub-Division recently. 

A press statement issued by the District President, BJYM Kiphire, PA Silicia Yim, informing about this, disclosed that the MLA said that the state government had provided well-equipped arms and ammunition to the Village Guard with an ex-gratia to the victims met accidents while on duty.  

Speaking on the importance of the Village guards, Torechu opined that the VGs should protect and preserve the natural beauty of the range as it is important place in the state where many natural resources are available. He also reminded to the village council and the village police to maintain peace and tranquility in the village so as to bring more development activities in the village, the release stated. The function was also attended by village guards from ten villages under Khong range.

The release also informed that the MLA also inaugurated the village road (black topping) at Waphur village under Shamator Sub-Division, which was constructed under Rural Development (RD) on November 8. Torechu congratulated the Waphur village council for proper utilization of the VDB Funds provided by the government and also said that it was the first ever village under Shamator Sub-Division where black topping road connection was undertaken. He also asserted that peace and transparency brings development in the village, the release added.  

Torechu encouraged and urged the gathering to ignore clanism and individual clashes in the village so as to bring sound governance and development and at the same time lauded the DAN government for providing special fund to the backward districts such as Development of under Developed Areas (DUDA).
