Total lockdown in Kohima from July 25 to 31

KOHIMA, JULY 23 (MExN): A total lockdown will be enforced in Kohima municipal area under Kohima Sadar jurisdiction from July 25 to 31. 

In an order, the Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Gregory Thejawelie informed that this decision was taken during the emergency meeting of the District Task Force (DTF) Kohima on July 23. The lockdown has been enforced in order to enhance active surveillance by the CMO in coordination with Team Kohima and to ensure more comprehensive contact tracing, early detection of suspected cases and isolation measures so as to slow down the chain of transmission. 

The DTF also entrusted KMC Administrator, Kovi Meyase to coordinate with the Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat for implementation of lockdown measures in respective colonies and wards by maintaining all the government guidelines.

Lockdown guidelines 
•    All public movement is prohibited, except on rare medical emergencies
•    All categories of shops are to strictly remain closed during the total lockdown period, except for pharmacies outside the sealed areas.
•    All religious places should remain closed. Religious services and congregation is strictly prohibited. 
•    Movement of all commercial and private vehicles prohibited, except for unavoidable medical emergencies. 
•    Gathering of people at public places within residential areas in ward/colonies/villages is prohibited. 
•    Marriages are not allowed during the lockdown period. 
•    Funeral/last rites related gathering shall ensure social distancing and the maximum number people allowed shall not exceed more than 20 people. 
•    Inter State, inter district and inter village movement is restricted. However movement of medical emergency cases and essential goods and services with proper safety measures will be allowed.  

Exemptions 
• District Administration, Police, Paramilitary/Army, Medical, Chief Minister’s Office, Raj Bhavan staff, Treasury, Prisons, Kohima Municipal Council, PHED, Power, NIC, DIPR, NSDMA, Fire and Emergency Services, Media, Medical Hospitals, Clinics and Nursing Homes, BSNL & private telecom services, Internet Service Providers, banks with minimal staff and ATMS, petroleum & LPG outlets, Quarantine Centres, Bethel Kitchen, persons/patients with medical emergencies and those involved in authorized COVID-19 related duties. • MLAs, AHODs, HODs and NLA officials involve in the upcoming NLA session on July 30.
