Tout arrested by RPF for illegal selling of ticket

  Maligaon, October 16 (MExN): Railway Protection Force (RPF) crime investigation team of Guwahati railway station conducted raid at the Prakash Travel Agency located at Paltan Bazar (Guwahati) on October 10 on charges of doing illegal business of selling Railway E-tickets. During the raid one person, Biswajit Kundu aged about 30 years was apprehended with recovery of 8 numbers of E-tickets valued over Rs. 6,120/- generated using his personnel ID. One computer with accessories, one mobile phone and cash worth Rs. 20,400/- was also seized. A case has been registered at the RPF post Guwahati railway station vide no. 964/18 under section 143 of Railway Act informed a press release by Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer. The Railway authority has been conducting drives against such touts throughout N.F. Railway.   During the last seven days, RPF also successfully arrested 31 persons on charges of stopping the running trains illegally by needless pulling of the Alarm Chain without any valid reason or emergency, which is a punishable offence, stated the release and said that the arrested persons were prosecuted under section 141 of the Railways Act. During the same period as many as 211 ticketless travellers were also detected during joint drive along with the commercial department and fine to the tune of Rs. 1, 30, 061/- was realized from offenders.
