Towards attaining ‘Plastic Free Nagaland’

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): The Department of Social Work, St Joseph University, Dimapur in collaboration with Green Team Kohima conducted one day seminar on ‘Plastic Free Nagaland’ with the theme of GTK ‘My Waste, My Responsibility’ at Khuzama Village, Kohima, on August 30 as part of the program and activities of Rural Camp.
A press release issued from St. Joseph University, Department of Social Work, Assistant Professor, Meijianthaipou Ruangmei stated that the vibrant Founding Member of Green Team Kohima, Thangi Mannen (Retd Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Nagaland talked on concern about the devastating effects of plastic to the human and the ecological systems, wherein the speaker emphasized on the ‘3Rs-Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’ to beat the plastic pollution.
In congruence with the theme, Akhrie Mor, General Secretary KCCI, Member of GTK applauded the immense contribution of woman towards limiting the use of Plastic and to say no to single use plastic. Meanwhile, Ela Mary, Member of GTK specifically raise on the issues of youth beneficence in plastic free campaign.
The paper bag making was led by Francis Ruangmei, the Chief Administrator, The Coming Generation, and member of Green Team Kohima, and his team. In his introductory speech, he emphasized on the importance of finding an alternative product such like ‘paper bag’ which are environmental friendly and economically affordable which in turn may create employability with their skills. He exhorted the trainees to learn paper bag making, to teach others in return. In conjunction with the seminar the conglomeration along with the dexterity trainers engaged in Paper Bag Making and that capsule the seminar for the day. The students and the faculties of Department of Social Work, St Joseph University, Dimapur lauded the selfless service of the Green Team Kohima Members and the Trainers of Paper Bag Making.
