Training on ‘Champions Skill Enhancement Programme’ begins

Kohima, August 8 (DIPR): The Department of Information Technology & Communication in association with National Institute of Smart Government (NISG) is organizing one-week training with the theme ‘Champions Skill Enhancement Programme’ under the Government of India project ‘Skill India’. The training began on August 8 at the conference hall of De Oriental Grand, Kohima.  

In his address during the inaugural programme, Commissioner & Secretary IT&C, KD Vizo said the training covers a wide range of topics relating to e-Governance and it has provided an opportunity for all North-Eastern states to learn and discuss problems of mutual interest.  

Vizo stated that the digital revolution is opening up possibilities for North-East India and the people must get the best deal out of it by setting positive technological vision. He further stressed on paying more focus on aerial OFC, wireless and satellite technologies as underground optical fibre is not likely to work properly in landslide prone area of North-East region.  

While keeping in view the technological capabilities in North-East states, Vizo suggested setting up Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), e-Office in Government departments for prompt service delivery, cyber security, telemedicine and telemarketing promotion, centralized electronic integrated security systems using electronic equipments, among others. 

Resource person from NISG, Prof. JC Kapur in his keynote address mentioned that the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India has taken a bold initiative to empower North-East for Digital India. 

JC Kapur mentioned that there are two categories under the training programme - Champions Skill Enhancement Programme and Executive Skill Enhancement. He added that under the three-week training programme, one week was apportioned to North-East states.  

Kapur also said that the first training commenced in Goa on August 1, and the second is being held in Kohima. Altogether, 30 participants from all the North-East states are participating in the training in Kohima.
