Zunheboto, June 10 (MExN): The Department of Sericulture in Zunheboto district conducted a two-day training and demonstration for farmers on ericulture under RKVY 2015-16 at Government Sericulture Farm, VK Kuzukchika on June 8 and 9. The resource persons were N. Tsenimo Humtsoe, Extension Officer and Toshi Ao, Sericulture Demonstrator.
During the technical session, N. Tsenimo Humtsoe demonstrated on the theme, “Agronomic practices of Eri silk host plants and its management.” He explained on how to identify the various eri silk worms, plants they eat, and the seasons for the seed to be given. He further encouraged the farmers to take keen interest in rearing the silkworm and get benefit from it. Demonstration on agronomic practices of eri host plants and its management, and rearing eri silkworm technology were also conducted.
Altogether, 12 selected farmers from Sastami and Izheto villages attended the training.
