Kohima, July 12 (MExN): ATMA Chunlikha block, Kohima conducted a training on awareness of Giloy plant (Tinospora cordifolia) and its medicinal values on July 9 at New Tesophenyu.

 

The training was conducted by ATM Kebegi Kent. 10 famers attended the training and planting materials were distributed to them. They were taught on how to identify the plant, parts to be used, medicinal values and growing techniques. The Giloy plant belongs to Menispermaceae family and is generally a climbing shrub, mostly found in tropical and sub tropical area of india.

 

The plant parts used are stem, leaves, roots and fruits. This medicinal plant is also used for treating fever, sore throat, cold, high blood pressure, diabetes, jaundice, heart disease, piles, liver disorder, cancer as well as burning sensation during urination.

 

This plant has the ability to mount an immune response or defend against pathogens.
