Phek, June 11 (MExN): The office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Phek organised a hands-on training and sensitization on handling and management of COVID dead body, ILI, SARI and COVID vaccination on June 10 at Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall DH Phek.
According to a press release from the CMO office, the training was attended by Medical Officers, Community Health officers, Phek Town Council staff, SDRF staff and Police personnel.
Dr Khriezotuo Paphino CMO Phek in his keynote address briefed the participants on the objective of the training and urged the gathering to actively participate in all the topics and gain knowledge at this crucial time.
The resource persons were Dr Visietsolie Vupru Sr Specilaist DH Phek, Dr Ngopelo Keviechu Sr Specialist DH Phek and Dr Kolhitso Khalo DPO RCH/UIP Phek.
Dr Visietsolie Vupru oriented the participants on donning and doffing of PPEs and how to handle COVID dead body at all levels.
Dr Ngopelo emphasized on the signs and symptoms of ILI and SARI and the need to conduct surveillance at village levels by ASHAs, AWWs and SHGs.
Dr Kolhitso shared the data of COVID vaccination coverage of the district and urged the participants to spread awareness to get vaccinated. He assured that the vaccine is safe and has high efficacy and that it is the most effective means to fight against COVID-19. He appealed the gathering not to spread rumours and misinformation on social media platforms.
He added that one should take COVID vaccine as the priority at this juncture.
During the interaction session, queries and doubts of the participants were addressed and cleared by the Medical Officers.
The programme was chaired by Dr Shevo Hiese DSO while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Avile Zao MS DH Phek.
