KIPHIRE, JUNE 7 (MExN): ATMA Kiphire, Longmatra block conducted training and demonstration programme on ‘Rainwater harvesting structure (Jalkund)’ and ‘Air layering of litchi’ on May 30 and June 4 respectively at Longmatra village.
Resource person, Moakumzuk, BTM (Longmatra block) demonstrated step by step procedure on preparation of Jalkund, pit size water accommodation, role of insecticides, cushioning of the pit and laying of silpaulin sheet for better utilization of water especially during off season in hilly areas.
Earlier, banana farm school was also inaugurated at Longmatra village with Jurinthe as the farm teacher. Objectives and concepts of farm school were highlighted by the resource person. He also stressed on disease management and climatic suitability for banana cultivation.
A brief introduction and method of litchi layering was imparted with steps and procedures of good layering for healthy and productive outcome of the fruit was also demonstrated. Altogether, 24 participants attended the programme.
