Training under Poshan week in Wokha
Wokha, September 5 (MExN): “Malnutrition of new born babies should not be comprised at any cost. It is the duty of every CDPOs, supervisors and Angawadi workers.” This was said by Myanlumo Patton, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Wokha during the two-day training for the trainers during the Poshan week on September 2 and 3 under the initiative of Social Welfare department Nagaland at CDPO, conference hall Wokha.
The CDPO also said that Poshan Abhiyaan has been taken up under the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) with a vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022. The objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan was to reduce stunting in identified districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of key Anganwadi services and improving the quality of Anganwadi Services delivery, and to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children. He said the schemes are targeted to the children in the age of 0-6 years and pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Patton further stated that every malnourished child should not be left out, for which every supervisors and Angawadi workers should be ensured, and proper care, guidance and support should be given to the pregnant and nurturing women. The technical session was presented by Peter Yanthan, CDPO Bhandari. CDPOs, Supervisors and representative from Chief Medical Officers under Wokha district attended the session. The month long programme is also to be followed up by Pushan Rally in different blocks, seminars and awareness programme at various village to mark the Poshan Month.
