Tribute to decades of service to students

Mokokchung, February 21 (MExN): Fazl Ali College (FAC) today organized and elegant felicitation programme in honour of its senior faculty and non teaching staff who were awarded with the Department of Higher Education Meritous Award.
Associate Professor Limatula Zulu who is also the Head of Department of English Department of Fazl Ali College and Repela Laboratory Assistant of Physics Department were awarded the Commendation Certificate by the Department of Higher Education for their contributions in the field of education.
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Lithrongla G Chishi took the honour of presenting the awards to the two FAC staff at a programme organized here today in the Conference Hall at the FAC Science Block.
Associate Professor Limatula Zulu is the fourth faculty member from the College to receive the prestigious award. However, today’s programme was not only a felicitation programme of the awardees, but a time to retrospect and honour the contributions of the college faculty and staff of Fazl Ali College in the field of education in the society and to rededicate themselves to achieve more in educating the students in the college.
The awardee Limatula Zulu has only one thing to say to her colleagues “Thank You” in her speech. She joined the college in the year 1980. If you ask her former students of Fazl Ali College, then most would describe her by three words – scholar, mentor and a motherly figure. Speakers at today’s programme said that the former students of Associate Professor have become responsible citizens of the society and contributing positively to the society.
The other awardee, Lab Assistant Repala also thanked her colleagues and God for the great honour bestowed on her.
The Principal of Fazl Ali College Kuholi Chishi while highlighting about the award, expressed deep pride and happiness over her colleague Limatula Zulu being awarded the prestigious Commendation Award by the Department of Higher Education. She disclosed that the award is presented to those who have served more than 20 years in service, and who have gone beyond the mere call of duty in their execution of duties.
The guest of honour while speaking at the programme exhorted the FAC teaching staff and non-teaching staff to rededicate themselves in their fields, since they are the builders of the society. Maintaining that teachers bring out the best in the students, the deputy commissioner pointed out that the teachers have great responsibility in the society.
Besides, while saying that ‘teachers contributions to society is limitless and timeless’ the deputy commissioner further urged the teachers to rededicate themselves and to emulate the great examples set by the awardees namely Limatula Zulu and Repala and try to contribute in educating the students of the society.  
It may be noted here that Fazl Ali College is the oldest government college in Nagaland and it is the only NAAC Accredited government college. This is also the only college in Nagaland which is providing Functional English  as a vocational subject .
