Catholic believers take part at the Eucharistic procession at Kohima Cathedral on May 26.
Kohima, May 26 (MExN): During a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, three events were celebrated at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Church here on May 26. Firstly, the parishioners celebrated the feast of their patroness Mary Help of Christians. The faithful gathered in large number to thank Mother Mary for her continued protection and love. This was stated in a press release by Father Loyola Anthony. The day also marked the Feast day of Holy Trinity according to the Church calendar. Here the Church recalled the Trinitarian God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Church also reflected on the unity that exists between the Trinity - though three distinct persons but one God. The celebration again marked the ‘Sisters Day.’ For this, the Diocese of Kohima acknowledged the yeomen service rendered by the Religious Sisters in the missions, especially in Nagaland.
During the Homily, Dr. James Thoppil spoke of the Trinitarian doctrine. He said that the doctrine of the Holy Trinity is a revealed doctrine. Human beings would not have known God as three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, if Jesus had not revealed them to us, he said. He also highlighted the fact that we forge a close intimacy and relation with our patroness whether feast day of parish or diocese, the press release said.
During the felicitation program which included choreography and a song in the Angami dialect, Bishop also thanked the Sisters for the service they render to the Church and appreciated their life as “one filled with spiritual satisfaction”. At the end of the Holy Mass, there was a Eucharistic procession around the Church. The celebration ended with a fellowship meal.
