Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

•    Yes, where is the, Silent and Holy night. It is more like Diwali night. Seems like the bigger the noise and the liquor flow, the more Christmas is. Lets celebrate with peace in our heart.

•    Yes... Because focus is more on the Christmas Feast than the Spiritual Food. i.e the word of God.

•    Yes....I think we lost the real spirit of Christmas. We have turned the birthday celebration of Christ the Saviour and his good will message into a loud cracking, smokey poisonious glamourous business.

•    Yes. Christmas was a moment of forgiveness for me

•    Yes. The popular culture of consumerism has led us to greed and our wants have overshadowed our needs. We have lost the true meaning of being followers of Jesus Christ. The coming of Hornbill Festival has affected Christmas as well.

•    Yes. But, still the message can be visible if we put the Bible along.

•    Yes. It was a pagan festival now digested by Christianity. The original culture and religion of  Nagas has been overshadowed by Christianity. When both are faiths then how can one faith be more true than other.

•    Yes. Although festivity and merry-making are desirable and necessary, but Christmas is altogether different. Instead of placing Christ in front, Christmas is played out as a massive, debauched party of opulence, gluttony, drunkenness, carnality and so on. But of course, there is no attempt to smear such character to all, but a general observation. Maybe our fetish for festivals and merry-making is still deeply ingrained along with our tribal/clan affinity or maybe we are just sensuous and self-indulgent or maybe we are not circumspect of spiritual well-being or maybe our church has been incompetent. But one is obvious that Christmas is celebration of Christ and an occasion of forgiveness and of love.

•    Yes. Most people celebrate the season but not the Birth of Jesus Christ! And they do so by indulging in acts and practices which are anti-Christ!

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

•    No. Those who are indulgent in merry-making and festivities were never really celebrating Christmas for its true meaning and spirit. So it does not really affect. With Christmas being projected as holiday at a almost universal level, its true meaning has been lost to modern pop culture. But for the Christians, it is a holy and sacred time of the year.

•    A big 'NO' Today, Christians are going in the wrong track of teaching.. Today, Christians are many self-made teachings in the name Jesus and fake followers and many modernized preachers and modified pastors and followers.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

•    As we reduce the use of stars, we lose the direction to Jesus.

•    I dont think it is good to generalize. There are many who are rooted in the fundamentals of Christianity and there are those who have lost their way. Those who have roots that are firmly rooted in the ground will be able to withstand any challenge.

•    Christmas is a pagan worship of all sort of things, it is not biblical nor was Christ born on 25th Dec , we tell lies to our children by the way of father Christmas, santa etc none of these are Christian nor are we asked to celebrate the birth of  Christ. Christmas destroys families and come march number of unwanted pregnancy are terminated due to drunkenness in December. what is a Christmas tree? Christmas cake, Christmas drinks etc, just put the word Christmas in front of something does not make it holy or Christ like.

•    It’s all about keeping a balance.
