Tseminyu, January 4 (MExN): The Rengma Hoho on Thursday announced that it was temporarily suspending the bandh called by the Hoho along with its frontal organizations.
The decision to suspend the blockade was taken during an emergency meeting of the Rengma Hoho along with Rengma leaders at Dimapur on December 4.
“Taking into consideration the hardships caused to the general public owing to the bandh called by the Rengma Hoho and its frontal organizations w.e.f. 02.01.18 along NH-2, the meeting resolved to temporarily suspend the bandh with immediate effect until further notice to enable temporary relief to the general public on humanitarian grounds,” the Hoho stated in a press release.
However, the Hoho asserted that the ‘temporary suspension’ does not entail the Rengmas having softened its demand for Tseminyu district. “The fight for Rengma district will continue till our ultimate goal is attained,” the Hoho maintained.
The Rengma Hoho and its frontal organizations also extended its appreciation to the various Tribal Hohos and Civil Society for extending their solidarity to their cause.
