Dimapur, December 28 (MExN): The 23rd annual sports meet of Tsiepama Youth Organization under Dimapur district got underway at Tsiepama local ground on December 28. This edition, the sports event is being hosted by Dream Team.
The sporting activities for the sports meet are volleyball and football. Teams are divided into six clubs namely Dream Team, United Friends Club, Wolf FC, Astute Brothers, Unity Club, TYO model village.
Playing on a league basis, the first football match saw Unity Club beat Astute Brothers 4-3 to register their three points. The weeklong sports meet will conclude on January 2.
Medovikho Nakhro, Sub-Divisional Officer, Soil and Water Conservation graced the occasion as the special guest for the inaugural session.
In his address, he appreciated the youth organisation for taking up the initiative in providing platform for the village youths to expose their talents despite the hardship faced by the general public owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nakhro viewed that the coming together and showing unity is no less than winning a medal. He also advised the youth to utilized smartphones in a good way through which one could gain lots of knowledge even in the field of sports.
To sportspersons, he suggested that in order to be a good player, one have to be physical fitness and have self discipline. Nakhro reminded that youngsters to inherit the traditional games and sports of the forefathers. He also advised the youth to give their efforts and interests in whatever field they choose.
