Mokokchung, July 31 (MExN): Mokokchung is all geared up to celebrate the Tsüngremmong Hornbill Festival from August 1 to 3 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex Mokokchung.
Tsüngremmong, which is the premier festival of the Aos, is a festival of Thanksgiving and Blessing. The essence of Tsüngremmong is sanctification of the self and society for obtaining blessings from God, practiced since the time of our forefathers. Thus, the festival is celebrated through songs and dance and community life enhance through sharing.
This year the celebration of Tsüngremmong Hornbill Festival is a collective celebration initiated by the Government of Nagaland and the people of Mokokchung District.
On August 1, the programme will be started from 1:00 pm where Deputy Chief Minister Nagaland, Y. Patton will be the special guest and in the evening from 5:00 pm onwards a programme to celebrate Ao traditional and modern times will be held where Advisor, Tourism and Art & Culture, Nagaland, Khehovi Yepthomi will be the special guest.
On August 2, Chief Minister, Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio will grace the programme at 1:00 pm and the evening programme for showcasing traditional attires and ornaments will be from 5:00 pm where Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Nagaland, Imnatiba will be the special guest.
Minister, Public Works Department, Nagaland, Tongpang Ozukum will be the special guest at the Final Day programme on August 3 from 10:00 am and in the evening at the Finale, Rock bands and Dance Crews will be on stage where Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung will be the special guest.
Ban on sale and use of firecrackers
Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal through an order has informed all the denizen of the town that in view of the upcoming Tsüngremmong Hornbill Festival and to maintain peace and tranquility during the festival, sale and use of firecrackers are totally banned in and around Mokokchung town. It further informed that defaulters shall be punished as per the provision of the law.
