Tuensang DTF ramp up efforts for COVID-19 response

Tuensang, May 10 (MExN): The Tuensang District Task Force for COVID 19 activated the district call centre for COVID-19 related issues on May 10, following a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) conference hall.

According to a DIPR report, DC and DTF Chairperson Kumar Ramnikant updated the house on the Tuensang Town Baptist Churches Union's resolution to restrict any form of mass gatherings within the town and requested the other communities to come up with similar resolutions to control and contain the spread of the disease.

DC Ramnikant informed that he will write to all the village councils of the district, and ask them to check the traffic and movements of villagers to the town areas, as a measure to control the spread of virus to the rural areas.

As per the DIPR, the house also decided to monitor the entry of returnees from other districts—data of the returnees will be collected at the check gates, and the medical and all ward unions would help monitor the same. It also considered improvising the SOPs by introducing a permit card syatem that would allow only one member of a family to go out for basic activities for a stipulated period, to avoid unnecessary congestion in the town.

The members also decided to close town the playground within the town to avoid the spread of the virus. The house also discussed earmarking the Government Polytechnic Setam as a makeshift hospital in case of a rise in COVID cases and utilizing the Sao Chang Government College hostels for same. On vaccination, the house decided to prioritize the service providers’ employees, the DIPR stated.

The numbers for the Tuensang district call centre for COVID-19 related issues are 03861-220171 and 8787655927.
