Tuensang Police feedback boxes leads to arrest of 5 extortionists

Tuensang, June 5 (MExN): Tuensang Police on Saturday registered an extortion case against five members of NSCN/GPRN-K (Nikki group).

According to an update from the SP Office, Tuensang the arrest was made based on the “credible information and complaints received through recently installed police feedback boxes, regarding illegal taxation and extortion going in and around Tuensang by various underground faction groups.”

“Amit Nigam, IPS Superintendent of Police, Tuensang alerted the security personnel of DEF and directed SDPO Tuensang to immediately address the public grievances and complaints regarding extortion and illegal taxation,” said the release.

“A team of Crime Branch Anti Extortion Unit under SDPO Tuensang was directed to implement the strategy to nab the faction involved in illegal taxation and extortion within the Tuensang district,” it stated. 

“The special team managed to apprehend five persons who were caught with incrementing documents and proof of extortion from various government departments and other local business within Tuensang district,” the update added.

 The arrested persons were booked under relevant sections of law at PS Tuensang and further investigation is on.
