The Tuophema Village Youth & Sports Organisation (TVYSO) Wrestling Meet 2025, commemorating the 62nd Annual Senior & Junior Wrestling Meet, was held at the Tuophema Village Amphitheatre on December 29.

Er Teisovilie Seyie, President of the Tuophema Dzüvi Krotho, Kohima, who attended the inaugural programme as the special guest, encouraged the participating wrestlers and youths and reaffirmed the enduring significance of indigenous sports in fostering discipline, resilience and youth athletic excellence.

Highlighting five key observations, Er Seyie noted that the absence of any unfortunate cases taken up by the Dzüvi Krotho over the past three years stands as a compelling indicator of the community’s growing maturity, social harmony and commendable progress.

He underscored the importance of cultivating a culture of appreciation, urging members of the community to recognise and celebrate one another’s contributions rather than dwell on shortcomings.

Emphasising compassion, Er Seyie remarked that genuine concern for the needy must extend beyond material assistance and be reflected through kind words, gratitude and sincere acknowledgement.

At the same time, he also called upon every individual to embrace collective responsibility and actively contribute towards the social, moral and developmental wellbeing of the community.

On sports development, he observed that the introduction of the NWA category system has significantly expanded opportunities for wrestling enthusiasts, enabling them to aspire confidently, compete with integrity and pursue excellence with discipline and unwavering dedication.

The meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from all khels in both senior and junior categories, reaffirming Tuophema village’s enduring commitment to the preservation of traditional sports and the holistic development of youth.

In the senior category, Kevibou Kense emerged as the champion, while other winners included Medongutuo Kense, Medosalie Zumu and Dietho Rio.
