Two cadres arrested in Kohima

Kohima, June 13 (MExN): One GPRN/NSCN cadre was arrested by the police in Kohima on charges of “extortion” on June 13 around 2:00 pm near Phoolbari Traffic Point, PRO (South), Kohima Police informed. The cadre, identified as SS Sergeant Major Ase-u Kense (26), was arrested by a combined team of DIB of DEF Kohima and personnel in plain clothes from North PS during a special operation at Kohima main town. The operation was carried out after receiving information from reliable source that some NPG cadres were carrying out extortion in Kohima Town, the PRO said.   The release informed that six numbers of demand slip and one mobile phone were recovered from the possession of the arrested person.   A criminal case Vide North P.S Case No. 0044/2016 U/S 384 IPC R/W 7 NSR’62 has been registered against the accused, who has been remanded into police custody for conducting joint interrogation and further investigation, the release added.

  In another similar incident on June 13, the release said, North PS received telephonic information around 1:00 pm that an NPG cadre was apprehended by the general public at Fancy Market area, Near Old NST, Kohima for serving tax slip to shops. Following this, personnel from North PS rushed to the spot and arrested one NSCN (R) cadre identified as P.A Yamlau (Tatar NSCN-R, Finance in-charge of Kohima town). The following items were recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre: Rs. 1920/-, 30 numbers of information slip of NSCN (R), 2 numbers of cash receipt of NSCN (R), Special ID Card (Sl. No. 57) issued by the Supervisor of Cease Fire Supervisory Board NSCN (R), 1 Micromax mobile phone, according to the release.   In this connection, a criminal case Vide North P.S Case No. 0043/2016 U/S 384 IPC R/W 7 NSR’62 has been registered against the accused and he is remanded into police custody for conducting joint interrogation and further investigation.
