The Wokha Town Council (WTC) has appealed for public cooperation as work on the new parking area at Police Point enters its final stage, with the project expected to improve parking facilities and ease traffic congestion at one of Wokha town's busiest junctions.

Speaking on the ongoing project, WTC Chairperson Myingthungo Kikon said the development is part of the council's efforts to create a systematic parking facility for the public.

He acknowledged that the construction has caused temporary inconvenience to commuters, particularly in terms of vehicle movement and parking, and appealed to the public to bear with the disruption until the work is completed.

"The ongoing work may cause temporary inconvenience, but we kindly request the public to cooperate with us. This development is being carried out for the benefit of everyone and is aimed at providing a proper parking area for the public," Kikon said.

He informed that the council commenced the work on July 11 and is making every effort to complete it at the earliest. However, he noted that progress has been affected by the location being a busy area as well as by unfavourable weather conditions.

Kikon said the council is focusing on completing the present stretch before taking up the remaining section. He added that work would continue into the late hours, wherever feasible, to expedite the project, expressing hope that the parking area would be completed within this week, weather permitting.

Upon completion, the project is expected to provide a more organised parking facility and contribute to smoother traffic movement at Police Point, a key junction in Wokha town.
