Mokochung/Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): With the Assam Motor Workers Association (AMWA) imposing a two-day chakka bandh from March 28, the Mokochung Police has advised Nagaland-bound travelers to avoid travelling in Assam until the bandh is called off by the Association.
“During the bandh period, all types of public transport including buses and taxis will remain off the road,” stated a travel advisory issued by the Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO Mokokchung Police. Guwahati-based Assam Tribune reported on March 25 reported that the 48-hour bandh was called by the Association in protest against the alleged "atrocities" of the State government upon commercial motor vehicle workers and owners. The Association in a statement claimed that the commercial vehicles have suffered a huge loss during the Covid induced lockdown, however, the Assam government did not provide any support to the drivers and conductors of the commercial vehicles, it added.
