Two-day farmers training held at CIH

Medziphema, August 28 (MExN): Two-day farmers’ training on ‘Avenues for generating income through horticulture innovation’ was organized by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture, GOI, Medziphema, Nagaland at Training centre from August 26 to 27.


The objective of the training programme was to impart technical know-how on various aspects of horticultural technologies for generating income.


The training programme covered topics like processing and value addition of pineapple and bamboo shoot, process of vermin composting and package and practices of vegetable cultivation.


Farmers, educated unemployed youth and self-help groups from neighboring villages took part in the training.


Vinika Aomi, Post harvest technologist delivered hands-on training on processing, Meribeni Shitri, Horticulture specialist delivered lecture on vegetable production and Marina, Senior technical assistant conducted hands-on training on vermin composting.


Besides training, farmer-scientist interaction was also conducted after each technical session. Altogether 97 participants from nearby villages such as Bungsang, Sirhi Angami, Punglwa, Piphema, Socünoma, and Mhainamtsi participated in the training. Certificates were distributed to the participants.
