Two officers from Nagaland among President’s Police Medal awardees

Two Police Officers from Nagaland are among 942 Central and state police personnel whom the government has selected for 'Police Medals' on the occasion of India's 72nd Independence Day.  

The two officers are L Ben Longkumer NPS, Commandant, Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre Chümoukedima and P. Sendongmeren NPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, informed a press release from the Ministry of Home Ministry via PIB. They were awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS).  

While the former is still in his present job, the latter was transferred as Superintendent of Police, Kiphire in June this year.  

All together 942 personnel have been awarded Police Medals this year out of which President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) has been awarded to 2 personnel, Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) to 177 personnel, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) to 88 personnel and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) to 675 personnel.  

The list of awardees was approved by President Ram Nath Kovind.
