Dimapur, August 19 (MExN): Dimapur Police have recovered the bodies of two unidentified men in separate incidents over the past three days and moved them to the District Hospital Morgue for post-mortem examinations and identification, officials said on Wednesday.
In the first incident, personnel from the Sub-Urban Police Station responded to telephonic information received around 8:00 AM on August 17 regarding an unidentified male body found lying at Rail Bazaar, Dimapur. Following an inquest at the scene, police suspected the cause of death to be natural causes and starvation. After completing all legal formalities, the body was shifted to the morgue. Claimants, relatives, or friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the Officer-in-Charge, Sub-Urban PS, at 7085055026.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) received a written memo around 2:00 PM from the Station Master of Dimapur Railway Station reporting an unidentified body found between railway kilometres 259/4 and 259/3. A police team rushed to the spot and conducted an inquest on the deceased, an unidentified non-local male estimated to be between 35 and 40 years of age.
Preliminary findings indicate illness as the suspected cause of death. The deceased was found wearing an orange T-shirt and black trousers. Following legal procedures, the body was deposited at the District Hospital Dimapur morgue.
