Jorhat, August 31 (MExN): UCO Bank, Zonal Office, Jorhat, organised a bicycle rally in Jorhat city on Sunday under the Fit India Movement to promote health awareness and encourage physical activity.

The Fit India Movement is a nationwide initiative of the Government of India aimed at encouraging citizens to incorporate physical activities and sports into their daily lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the campaign on August 29, 2019, with the objective of making physical fitness an integral part of daily life. August 29 is observed as National Sports Day in honour of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, and the Fit India Movement is being promoted across the country in his memory.

Speaking on the occasion, UCO Bank Zonal Head Narendra Pratap Singh said staff members should continuously strive to remain physically and mentally fit while also focusing on the development of healthy banking business.
"In the present scenario, a large number of youth are facing physical and mental problems. The main reasons include improper diet, lack of physical activity and spending excessive time in the digital (virtual) world," Singh said.

"Even 30 minutes a day of physical activity can provide significant health benefits," he said.

Deputy Zonal Head Hassan Ejaz Hashmi, Retail Loan Hub Head Ajay Sahay, Chief Managers Nishant and Abhinav Bharti, and Kukila Borkotoky, along with staff members of the Zonal Office, Jorhat, and nearby branches, participated in the bicycle rally.
