UNDP to abstain from All Political Party Meeting

Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The United Naga Democratic Party (UNDP) has stated that it will abstain from the All Political Party Meeting scheduled to be held on November 23.

The all party meeting was convened by the Nagaland Chief Minister to discuss the Naga political issue and the visit of the President of India. However, the UNDP stating that it would abstain from attending the meeting reasoned that the voice of the Naga Tribal Hohos and the civil societies is a key requisite to discuss the Naga political issue. “To discuss such issue, ample time should be given beforehand and not at the eleventh hour,” it added.

With regard to the President’s visit, the UNDP stated that it was the responsibility of the ruling government “and the other parties need not have any say in it.”
