Unemployed Union makes more demands to government

Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): The Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) has added two more demands to the state government in the list of its earlier demand to the state government. 

The EUUN President, Achilo Thong, in a press statement said that the Union has decided to demand the state government for “fixation of Maximum length for service depending on the nature and requirement of jobs”.  The second demand, the release informed, is deduction of 30 percent from the total budget of each department dealing with Self-Employment for educated unemployed. The decision to add this two demands to the state government were taken at an emergency executive meeting of the Union on December 20 where various issues pertaining to the Union were discussed, said Achilo Thong. 

The release also informed that the Union has resolved to reiterate its earlier demand to the state government. 

The EUUN has been demanding the state government to set up a self employment training institute, state self employment board, department staff selection board and state level committee to formulate clear-cut policy. 

With the latest addition of the two demands, the list of demands by the EUUN to the state government has now gown to six points of demand. The release also informed that the December 20 meeting of the Union upheld the dissolution of the action committee during the last emergency meeting held on October 10. 

Further, the house upheld the Union’s constitution and added that the house resolved to set up a resolution committee, comprising of the president, general secretary speaker, assembly speaker, unit presidents and advisors as its members. The house resolved to hold an executive meeting on January 17, 2008 at 11 am at Hotel Japu, Kohima, the release added.
