Dimapur, December 28 (MExN): The NSCN (Unification) has claimed that since the ‘unification declaration’ on November 23, 2007 it was maintaining maximum restrain in every related matter in order to pave way for peaceful and fruitful reconciliation and unification amongst the Nagas. The NSCN (Unification) in a press note issued by its publicity cell clarified that despite repeated provocations and mindless allegations, it was doing its best to maintain the true spirit of unity and peaceful approach. “It is imperative on our part to dispel misguidance and confusions being generated by certain elements with an ulterior motive to poison the minds and thoughts of the Nagas and to scuttle the on going unification process”, the publicity cell stated.
Clarifying on the December 25 incident, the NSCN (Unification) informed that at around 11:30 pm two NSCN (IM) cadres in full combat readiness confronted Viniho and threatened to kill him by cocking their rifles and that Viniho ‘miraculously managed to escape after sustaining injury.’ It stated that on sounding alert the local residents overpowered the perpetrators, snatched away their rifles and ‘submitted’ the weapons to the unification group.
The Publicity Cell also alleged that the two NSCN (IM) culprits were dispatched on a mission from RH Raising’s residence at Wungram colony and that the incident would have turned ugly had it not been for restraint maintained by Viniho’s security personnel.
The statement also lamented that dubbing the leaders of the unification team as anti-Naga, spineless, unprincipled and communal force was highly malicious and a direct threat to unification of the Nagas. “Does it also imply that those against the Naga unity are the real Naga patriots?” it questioned and stated that it was now left to the wisdom of the Nagas at large to judge who was really working for peace and unification.
It stated that “to a jaundiced eye every thing appears yellow, but true workers would neither be subdued nor deterred” from the pursuit of peace. The NSCN Unification Camp clarified that its objective was clear and its conscience bereft of any ill will towards anybody and that it was committed to march ahead until its mission was accomplished. In this regard, the NSCN Unification Camp urged every peace loving Nagas to join hands and lead the process into fruition so that the posterity would be salvaged from further ravages of killings and bloodshed.
