Union HRD Minister assures to clear pending liabilities

Nagaland Minister Imna Along meets Union Ministers, seeks cooperation
New Delhi, September 4 (MExN): Nagaland State Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along today called on Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs and Union HRD Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in New Delhi.
During his meeting with Dr. Nishank, Along apprised the former on activities of the Higher and Technical Education Departments and urged upon the Union Minister to extend support to the State.
Nishank reportedly suggested that a conclave of NE region and Himalayan States can be held at Kohima to deliberate on the circumstances of the hilly and mountainous states with regard to the New Educational Policy.
Besides this, the Union HRD Minister instructed Ministry officials to extend all necessary cooperation to the State Government by clearing pending liabilities and sanctioning funds. He further asked the Nagaland Minister to send comprehensive proposals to the Ministry for expeditious approval and sanction. He assured infrastructure grants to all 17 Government Colleges in the State and support to a weather research in Kohima Science College.
The HRD Minister also said that he will consider sanctioning two more professional colleges for Nagaland as requested by Along.
Meanwhile, the Department of Tribal Affairs also prepared concept notes for the proposed directorate building at Kohima besides two mini directorates at Mokokchung and Tuensang, which was submitted to the Union Tribal Affairs Minister.
The Union Minister reportedly assured to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
Along meanwhile also informed the Minister on the activities and performance of Nagaland University which is slated to celebrate its Silver Jubilee on September 6 at Lumami. Arjun Munda is scheduled to be special guest for the occasion.
