Union Minister reviews progress of projects sanctioned by Ministry of Tribal Affairs

Kohima, September 7 (MExN): The Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Government of India Arjun Munda reviewed the progress of the on-going projects sanctioned by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to the Government of Nagaland under Article 275 (1) of the Constitution of India, Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Scheme and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for the past five years in its meeting held with some key departments in the State at Hotel Vivor on September 6. 


The state Tribal Affairs Department in a press release stated that the review meeting was also attended by Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tribal Affairs, Nagaland and other senior Officers from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. During the review meeting, the Union Minister was apprised of the decision of the State Government on creation of the new Department of Tribal Affairs by the State Cabinet on August 2. 


Lhoubeilatuo Kire, Additional Chief Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland presented a Power Point Presentation of all the projects sanctioned by the Ministry to the State Government, which the Planning & Co-ordination Department Nagaland was implementing, such as Article 275 (1), SCA to TCS and EMRS before creation of the new Department. He also presented the activities and achievement of the Department of Under Developed Areas, one of which is the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Minor Forest Produce (MFP) under Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The project is being implemented through the Anghya Brand launched early this year. This Brand was conceptualized as handholding initiatives for providing livelihood solutions to farmers and entrepreneurs of Eastern Nagaland, which was reported in the National Paper of Times of India on September 2. 


The Union Minister also called on Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister at his private residence at Dimapur on his way to New Delhi on September 7.
