Dimapur, December 7 (MExN): Unity College Dimapur conducted an Inter-Departmental Level Seminar on Cyber Law under the theme ‘Awareness and Vigilance’ on December 7. Dr T Khan (Dean PG students) gave a brief introduction about the speaker and his achievements. As per a press release from the College, resource person Atu Zumvu, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Special Branch, Dimapur brought up vital issues regarding cyber offences which we all overlook, the consequences it brings to the victim and the accused. He talked about the first ever cyber that was registered in Nagaland in the year 2011 and how the case was executed by the crime branch and the accused was brought to trial. Zumvu also exhorted the students on how cyber cases are legally fought and one can approach the court when he or she is digitally abused. Zumvu also shared on how to be a responsible user of any social media platform and also on the consequences of breaching cyber laws. He encouraged the 800 plus students to be careful media users. The seminar concluded with question session with students. Vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Professor, Dr Vivolhuno Punyu, Department of History.
