In protest against non fulfillment of their demands, the aggrieved Unemployed Regular Veterinary Field Assistant Trainees Nagaland (URVFATN) today began its first phase agitation here at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Kohima.

URVFATN is demanding that the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services department revoke appointment of 10 private candidates, 50:50 and 80:20 modes of appointments.

Members of the URVFATN said the department has assured to take up the matter with the government for which they are waiting the official communication of the outcome.

Earlier, URVFATN in its press conference on August 11 last informed that it will go for its first phase agitation on August 23 if the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Nagaland fails to comply with their demand of appointment through merit list and review of the meeting minutes held on July 11 regarding the reservation ratio of Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) vacancies for regularized and VFA private candidates.

They mentioned that the appointment to the post of VFA are appointed serially from amongst the qualified regular unemployed VFA trainees as per the merit list of the result of the VFA training which is conducted after issued by the Department.

However, on May 31, 2017, the department regularized ten private candidates instead of appointing the VFA trainees ‘as per seniority based on merit’, following which representations and ultimatum were served to the Director of the department with the latest ultimatum served on August 10.

The Department further brought up a special reservation ratio of 50:50 vacancies of the regularized private VFA trainees and 80:20 reservation for open recruitment through a minute of meeting on July 11, 2017. The trainees in their representation and ultimatum had requested the department to revoke the meeting minutes and requested for review.

“As established norm, the appointment to vacant post of VFA is made serially in turn from amongst the qualified regular VFA trainees as per merit list of the result of the VFA training. It may also be mentioned that the VFA training is conducted after selection by interview through open competition. Besides there is no mention in the prospectus of the VFA training that the private candidates will be given VFA training. The VFA trainees’ batches have been waiting for almost 7 years for their appointment as per merit list,” the URVFATN members stated.
