United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) has resolved to oppose the proposed police training at Kiphire and Longkhim-Chare Zone for the newly selected candidates “during this pandemic as it will endanger the lives of the general population.”

USSC, Vice President, Sethrongba Y Sangtam and General Secretary, Selicho Sangtam in a press release stated that the Conference in the overall interest of the general public has called upon the competent authority to refrain from the said activities until the current situation is brought under control.

Speaking to The Morung Express, Sethrongba informed that the Conference is constrained to oppose the proposed training until the issues on the police backdoor appointment of new recruits raised by different tribal Hohos are looked into by the State government.

He said that “the State government instead of going ahead with the proposed training should rather come clean on the issue as demanded by various organizations.”
