USSC rebuts SKK; calls for reason

Dimapur, January 30 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has strongly reacted to the recent press note issued by the All Sumi Students Union (AKK) under the caption “SKK condemns Singsi (Shishimi) village incident”. The USSC in a press note issued by its Vice President P. Setsacho termed the SKK statement as baseless and illogical and appealed to all like minded Nagas not to be misled by such premature and provocative statement. The USSC while responding to the SKK urged its counterpart to analyze the issue in detail and not to twist the issue without knowing the genesis.

The USSC pointed out that the reported stand of the SKK was justification that the SKK had been convinced by few vested interest individuals of their community “just to win their sentiment and sympathy” without knowing the location and existence of Singsi (Shishimi) village and that the SKK had been “ensnared at the hands of few selfish leaders” and termed the SKK as a “puppet organization at the hands of few selfish leaders” and stating that this had become an “undeniable fact”. Therefore, the USSC urged the SKK leaders to be more broadminded and reasonable in any sensitive issue so as to maintain peaceful co existence among the Nagas.

The USSC asserted that it had its office open to any individuals or organization and that whosoever desired to know about the brief historical background and incident of Singsi (Shishimi) village may come forward and up date during office hours.

The USSC likewise cautioned that articles relating to Singsi (Shishimi) village should not be published without knowing the historical background and the incident. In this regard the USSC pointed out that publishing such “useless press statements cannot deny its birth right and its land under any circumstances” rather the USSC would uphold its rights and its land. It stated that the USSC charter of demands still stood.
