USSC set ultimatum for NSCNs

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): Both the factions of the NSCN have been issued a deadline of 48 hours to surrender their respective culpable cadres by the Sangtam students’ community over the January 19 murder of one Seopi Sangtam, a village guard (VG) in Kiphire. The culpable cadres are demanded to be produced before the United Sangtam Students’ Conference in Kiphire.

In two separate ‘open letters,’ addressed one each to the factions, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference informed of what was stated as a thorough investigation in the murder incident which took place in Shshimi (Singsi) village on the 19th, Saturday. The open letters’ issued through vice president P Setsacho Sangtam and general secretary Lithsase Sangtam took strong note that the village guard was mercilessly murdered for no reason.

To the NSCN-IM, the USSC stated that one Vihoyi Sumi, Hekato Sumi and Khevishe Sumi, of Shishimi village were found to be involved in the gruesome murder. Such person who ‘practice barbarism’ should be dealt with all seriousness for the well-being of the Nagas as a whole, the students’ community stated. For this, the USSC has demanded from the NSCN-IM that the mentioned erring cadres should be produced before the students’ organization, headquartered in Kiphire, within 48 hours from the issue of this letter.

To the NSCN-K, the USSC mentioned one Khekato Sumi, raja peyu of Sumi region NSCN-K, and hailing from Shishimi village. He was also found to be involved in the murder of the said village guard.  Both the NSCN-IM and the NSCN-K have been cautioned that in the event of failure to meet this demand, the USSC would go to the extent of “withdrawing its co-operation” to them.
