Vande Bharat sleeper service begins commercial operations

Maligaon, January 22 (MExN): The inaugural commercial run of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Sleeper train commenced from Kamakhya Railway Station on January 22.

The train (No. 27576), bound for Howrah, saw its maiden journey tickets booked out within hours of reservations opening, reflecting high passenger demand, stated a press release.

Railway personnel welcomed travellers onboard with roses at Kamakhya station.

Passengers praised the train's modern amenities, quality bedrolls, and variety of food. Many also lauded the cleanliness and prompt staff service, with some emphasising the shared responsibility of maintaining hygiene during the journey.

The return service (Train No. 27575) from Howrah will begin on Tuesday. During the journey, passengers will be served sumptuous Assamese and Bengali recipes, along with premium bedrolls, through IRCTC-approved caterers.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on January 17.
