Vephutso & Zasibituo battalion, Naga Army, NSCN (IM) today celebrated 71st Naga Independence Day at Vp. Battalion headquarters at Tsiemekhuma village in Kohima district.
Lt. Col. Akho Nagi- MSM CO, Vp. Bn extended salutation to all who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Naga national sovereignty since the inception of Naga national movement.
He also sought cooperation and contribution of the people “to achieve our final goal.”
Thanking all persons for gracing the celebration, he also looked forward to more cooperation from one and all in all spheres in the coming days as well.
He also read out the speech of NSCN (IM) vice president Gen (Retd) Kholi.
Angami Youth Organization (AYO) president Neinguvotuo Krose in his speech said although the public leaders and freedom fighters have different responsibilities, they have a common goal. The public leaders work towards protection of public rights and public interest, while freedom fighters work for unique history, sovereignty and independence, he said. “We need support and cooperation of each other to achieve our common goal,” he said. He also urged upon each and every individual to stand united as one family.
Angami Students’ Union (ASU) vice president Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo in his address stressed on the need to have the spirit of patriotism. He also appealed to all the leaders of both underground and overground to work together for permanent settlement of the Naga political issue. “We should preserve unity of Naga nation,” he said.
Lt. Col. Vikato CO, Zb.Bn, representative from Tsiemekhuma village council and others also spoke on the occasion.
